I would not call that a stock car so it shouldn't be compared so to the zonda
but it's a mighty impressive laptime, and that wing is bizarre haha

Pretty impressive. It wasn't too shabby around Hockenheim either (1:11.7), faster than the Zonda S and the 996 GT3 RS by .1 secs, but more than 3 secs slower than the CGT (1:08.6). The car didn't have any spoiler during that run.

From the pictures, seems like they tested a couple of spoilers before settling on the uhm, "simpler-looking" one.

Another modified M3 CSL that I like is the AC Schnitzer one. 7:37 around the 'Ring with nothing but aerodynamic and suspension mods (engine was left stock).

ADDENDUM: Just read that the run was made on an open track (they were supposedly slowed down a bit by some other cars on the track), and that the temperature that day was only 4 degrees Celsius. They're looking to beat the EDO 996 GT2's time of 7:15.x next time.

the ac schnitzer you talk about was an e36 m3 that was lightened, and had about 40 extra hp (360 hp) plus all the other aero stuff and suspension. the fastest time ever on the ring is like a 6:12 by some Porsche racecar IIRC.

Nope. It was an E46 M3 CSL. With aftermarket Recaro seats, Ohlins dampers and some big-a*s Brembo brakes (380mm front).

Here's the Sportbilen article that I managed to save in my hard drive a few months back. There used to be a companion video but seems like it's been pulled from YouTube.

Ooops. Turned out that the correct time for the AC Schnitzer M3 CSL is 7:36, not 7:37 (14 secs faster than the standard M3 CSL according to the article). Source
