E90 M3: My Impressions

Moonroof is a no charge option. However, if you select the moonroof, there is no carbon fiber roof. Carbon fiber roof is pretty cool, but I love a moonroof. The ultimate option is the hardtop convertible found on the 335cic.

What! Wow, that's a lot of weight, very high up. I agree, the look isn't quite as pleasing with the top up, but I love the flexibility of it.

I wasn't driving, but based on how it intervened, I'd say no it wasn't. There was no slip allowed, and it was cutting power significantly. The EDC was on full stiff, and I believe the Power button was activated. Some of the sales guys were tinkering around in it, with the motor started, and we just drove it out how they had it.

I would think a tuned 335 would be a much better daily driver given the significant torque advantage down low, and pretty much throughout the rev band. I haven't driven an M3 yet, but would think the majic would really start till around 5000 RPM, which is typical of M engines. I couldn't see getting up there on a regular basis for a daily driver.

With that being said, I'd say a 4-door 335i with automatic (yeah, I said it, the 6-speed manual box doesn't feel that great) is perhaps a better DD when considering price, practicality, and needs. If you're looking for more power after you get used to the car, do a Dinan software upgrade and exhaust. You'll be very happy with the car, and save $20K.

Hell, get a JB2 piggy back for less than $400+ cheap intake cone filters and some downpipes and for a little over a $1,000, you'd have more than 400 crank HP. And 400+ ft/lbs of torque.

Yep, and when that unproven transmission fails, or you blow a turbo, you're screwed. I'll take the R&D proven product with factory matched warranty.
