I'd wait 12 months minimum, both cars will drop in value and there will be another version of the GTR coming out.

The GTR will be very drivable especially on a daily basis, don't know why people say it wont be?
He already owns an M5 and will lose his *** to start off with. Add on to that the markup of a GTR = bad situation from a financial standpoint.

How in the world can you say a GTR is very desirable as a DD? It has two freaking doors and the guy has children. Even without children, I'd say NO as a DD compared to an M5.

And don't anyone say I am a fanboy of any kind because you would be a liar. Just take a peek at what I have owned in the past 24 months PLUS I am a big fan of the GTR.....just not as a DD.

I guess i'm looking at it from my perspective, and a DD in NY where I live has to be able to drive around all year long. My G35 hardly went in the snow, M5? Hell no, that's why GTR would be a good DD.

I guess your right with children M5 is much better, ah well, he'll wind up doing what he wants anyway.

M5 is 10x sexier in every way!

You are exactly right on the AWD. I keep forgetting that. Its certainly a plus for the GTR. Good point.

Perhaps north of the Mason Dixon line, it would be a decent DD.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

I am definitely leaning towards keeping the M5. However, if I can locate a GTR at MSRP I don't see how I can lose from a depreciation standpoint of giving it a try.

Do you guys think it is likely to find one at MSRP? When the e92 M3 first came out there was comments that dealers were asking $20k over, but with the economic climate, it looks like you can buy them for under MSRP. Is the GTR limited enough to seriously demand a hefty premium over sticker today?

I am going to trade with a friend my M5 for his 996tt X50 for a week to see how much of a pain it is to put kids in the backseat daily. Then again, i believe the GTR's rear seats are much more accomodating, but still have to fold the seats forward.

Also, AWD is not a benefit to me at all.

Thanks
James

The whole "_______ is still a _______" statements get pretty tiresome. Only badge humpers care about the badge. A well built, well performing car is still that regardless of badge.

That being said, if you have small children to drive around, I'd say keep the M5.

Have you asked your little boys? As I read, you take more attention about drepreciation than another thing, so If you don't want to lose 20k $ each year, do it.

Regards, Alex.

I'd say go with the Nissan for now. If the prices do fall even lower, which they most likely will with the gas prices on the rise.. you can always sell the skyline and buy another m5:].

Just my 2 cents.
