E92 M3 with MDCT
I am considering getting a new M3 but I want paddle shift for my every day car.
Does anyone here have one with the new MDCT trans? If so how do you like it?
Thanks,
Norm

I assume you had issues because they attempted to change your transmission fluilds yes....? They didnt touch mine at the 1200 mile service as its in the system now not to touch thanks to the ones prior Love it though...have an smg M5 as well....

I just drove one today. It's very smooth, but there's definitely a slight hesitation between the time you pull the paddle and the actual gear shift. The regular step actually starts the shift sooner after you pull the paddle. IT's a great tranny, but I hope they get rid of that slight hesitation.

aus, thanks.
Did you have it set o the fastest shifting M mode?
I am assuming like SMG it has different shift speeds.
Also does it shift slower during break-in?
A year ago I test drove a brand new M6 with SMG and it shifted extremely slow.
I drove it with a friend that had an SMG M5 and he said it was way slower than his M5 even though it was set in the fastest mode.

the review i read on mdct said it was a laggy transmission (as in lag between pulling the lever and actually shifting). they really didnt seem to be fans of it, but then again, i guess not everything can be as good as Porsche's PDK.

you can adjust the transmition settings (button just below the shifter) so even when not in M Mode can be pretty seemless and quick.....I had the settings set in the middle in regular driving mode heading to work this morning in Drive/auto mode and its just like and automatic transmition along with paddle shifts are quick no hesitation...all this in average...if you just start the car and not play with the settings it goes into the lowest mode and thus being a little slow...like your driving on ice and dont wont quick starts...M mode is Instant...as in BAM......
