Good luck and hopefully everything works out for you.

And you guys think BMW is bad at voiding warranties well Mercedes is worst. My friend had his warranty voided because of wheels and some audio work he had done to his S55. He basically had to pay out of his own pocket to have warranty work done that had nothing to do with his mods. Luck for him he sold the car and walked away without taking much of a lost on his car but you really have to be careful doing mods especially anything to do with the engine.

Flash your ECU back to stock then take it to another BMW dealership - It probably won't work, but it's worth a shot...

Also, all this dinan and bmw warranty stuff is not as easy as it sounds - IF something does go wrong with your engine, BMW and dinan WILL argue over who is to blame and that arguing can take a while and one will have to assume responsibility over the fault and one will have to pay for the problem, and no one likes to pay - thus it's not as easy as it sounds... This is fact

I think they have flagged his car in the database - lets hope the tech was lazy or the SA was. I spoke to my friend who is a BMW tech and he said they are directed to flag the car and suspend motor warranty and drive train. Since the piggy back ECU or the ECU themselves runs through out the car they are not sure what BMW has to say about the remaining bits and will most likely have to fight them to get warranty work done. Obviously if your seat is not working they will cover that. They cannot blanket void the entire warranty and they know that.

Some dealerships are much easier than others. Just unfortunate that the one you went to wasn't easier going about it.

Did you have your OWN experience when BMW refused warranty work because of Dinan mods?

The OP should have known better to begin with and had the ECU set back to stock by the company that chipped the car in the first place - I'm sure they would've done it for free and re-chipped it back after the car was repaired...

Isn't it a recent development between BMWNA & Dinan where the former is collaborating less (maybe not at all) with them in order to bring out their own "performance" tuning line?

The warrantee can be reinstated if you get the car back to stock. You have to work pretty close with your SA and regional rep on that. It has been done bfore. All you need to do is to talk to them about it.

With regards to dinan mods-I don't think the warranty was ever through BMWNA for that, I believe that dinan offered their own warranty that matched the factory warranty.

That is 100% correct. BMWNA has never had anything to do with Dinan warranty.
