2008 M5 Question

So I just test drove a 2008 M5 w 13k miles. The guy is selling it for 43k but it was a theft recovery. He has had it for a yr now and bought it with 1k miles on it. No problems was stolen w key. Any thoughts? is this a good deal?

Seems like a good deal. Do you plan to do a PPI? That's a must. But the mileage is not abnormal for 1 year of ownership.

PPI = Pre-purchase inspection. This is numero uno important when buying a used car, especially a luxury or exotic. Get it done at a place that is used to dealing with these kind of cars.

It may cost anywhere from $100-$500 depending on who does it, but it can save you a lot more in the long run because you won't be buying someone else's problems if the inspection report is problematic.

just to add that, BMW factory warranty probably got void due to salvage/rebuilt/re-constructed title. You should check that out with your local BMW dealer

I was just going to say that Locus. Make sure you verify the status of the warranty.

An '08 M5 w/ 13K miles for only $43K? Sounds like somethings wrong.
I know the economy sucks but maybe if it was an '06 but an '08?
This past July I picked up an '06 M5 loaded with Brembo's, Evosport ECU, Eisenmann exhaust, Hamann front spoiler and Alpina wheels for $52K.
Best of all it only had 8,900 miles.
Now an '08 M5 for $43K, well check the warranty.

Best of luck and btw it's a great sports sedan, my favorite.

Warranty is HUGE on this car-car has like 4 oil pumps and 10 miles of electronic gizmos/wires/and motors- And they are not cheap.

Are they really that cheap now(40K+ isn't cheap) I was looking at M5's earlier this year and 08's were 65+. The low mile 06's were in the mid 40's. Maybe it is time for me to rethink some things and take another look at them!
