Need help deciding: M3 or 335i?!?

I own both. If you're more into luxury, and won't be tracking it, then get the 335. The low end torque is much better for daily driving. It'll feel faster than an M3 around town. The 335is would be another nice option since it gives you more power, better tuned suspension and the option of DCT.

buy the 335 and mod it
it will be just as quick as the m3 for a lot less money
check out the car and driver from 2 months ago i think..they compared both after Dinan got ahold of both - the 335 performed as good as the modded m3 (because you cant do much to a NA car)

Hey guys, first post here but from what I've read you guys know your stuff.
I need help deciding between a 2011 335i coupe or a slightly used M3 coupe...
I was set on a new 335i coupe but am starting to think I will be missing out if I go that route. This will be my first BMW purchase.
What I know for sure is that I want a well equipped coupe, the exterior to be Le Mans Blue, and a manual. Budget is definitely a consideration as well.
The biggest factors for me are luxury, great driving experience as a daily driver, budget (monthly payment, gas, insurance), and awe/aggressive factor.
Also, your opinions on the interior would be helpful as well.
I look forward to your opinions!!
Thanks,
Chris

I just sold my 08 M3 w/DCT. It was a blast to drive. The V8 power is impressive. The answer to the question will become obvious when you compare the driving experience of the two. Let me know if you have any other M3 questions.

I've test driven an M3 when I had a 335. Both sedans mind you and both manual transmission. The M3 is just a better car. There are advantages that the 335 may have (such as everyday driveability) but when you evaluate both, its clear that the M3 comes out on top any way u slice it.
Go for the M3 if its within your budget.

i have '09 M3 Conv in interlagous blue with DCT and love it. I also had '08M6 and '03 996TT and hands down prefer the M3 over all of them. I don't think the 335 is really comparable to the M

OK, for the sake of arguwement I will take the opposite view from most responders.
I have a 335i 6mt coupe, a few friends have the M3. We all have Porsches also.
Concensus is that while the M3 has the 'wow' factor over the 335, it may be a bit too much for a DD in terms of price HP, and overall 'wow' factor.
But obviously either car is a great choice.

Considering what the OP values, 335i would probably be the better choice. Only thing the M3 wins there is the awe/aggressive factor. It's not any more luxurious, budget friendly, or necessarily a better daily driver. Especially with the lack of low end torque.

Finally a BMW Owner!
Hey guys! Thanks for all the replies and opinions. A work situation made me make a quick decision as well as finding the exact car I wanted and an online sale guy who sells at invoice...
I purchased a 2011 M3!!! Le Mans Blue Ext, Black int with carbon fiber trim, fully loaded with the 6MT. I did the Performance Center delivery in South Carolina. It was an amazing experience.
It did push my budget a bit but I just couldn't help it.
Here are a couple pics... I still need to take some pics that really show it off.
