ESS Supercharged E90 M3 Vs. GT500
#16
Nothing! That's why I bought a GT500. Believe me I had a Carrera 4 with the Todd Knighton special with a built motor, black in the day... Then a few years later, my buddy showed me the power he was getting out of his GT500 with stock tranny, clutch and motor and I was sold!!
Check this dyno run out. This was on race fuel. Sick! And dynodynamics are notoriously low!

My car with stock blower with just pulley software and intake made 640ft lbs! lol

Divv X Evolution Motorsports ran deep into the 8's without ever opening the motor up and a twin turbo kit. 1,000 rwhp is possible on the stock internals even though over 800 whp it takes a good safe tune to keep the engine together. 700 whp is just barely getting started....so if you want to compare a max effort E92 build than you can't compare it to a mild bolt on GT500!

How do these cars hook in 1st and 2nd gear on the street on the stock suspension with DR's at say, 800 rwhp?
You've got me interested in these cars myself now but I'd want something that can hook fairly well without major suspension mods. Maybe a TT setup might be better on the street for this reason? I imagine running a KB at that power level makes for quite the tire shredder in low gears...

I still don't understand, you said you ran the ESS car?

The car now handles like a true sports car. Especially with the Nitto NT01s I have on.
1st gear is still a shredder without diligence... Unless you have Hoosiers on at the drag strip and your dumping the clutch at 5000 rpms!
2nd gear I can mash the throttle and just vanish..
It's really quite something. It's not refined like the Pcar or Bimmer, but that's not what I wanted...

Well you don't do those mods on stock suspension. Perhaps the 2011 GT500 has a better setup, but the first major mod I did was Griggs Racing's GR40SS suspension.

Isn't it tougher to hook with it though?

Very interesting. A local guy I know has one of these and I think it makes over over 850 rwhp. I raced him in my Z06 once and pulled him but I think he was only at 750 rwhp then. Admittedly, I never really paid much attention to the car (even though I thought it looked sexy as hell in person), but now I need to hit him up for more information! Ha ha. These cars are starting to interest me a lot...

I was shocked! Because of the extra weight the GT500 needs more hp.
But, with smart tuning, weight reduction and good driving you can make them insane.

And to beat a 722whp Z06 you'd need 900+wheel in the shelby... Unless you did some serious weight reduction. At the drag strip that would be different. But on the street, the weight makes a big difference.
