ESS Supercharged E90 M3 Vs. GT500
Hey Guys,
I had the privilege of running an ESS Tuning M3 the other night.
To start this off, I'm a BMW owner, enthusiast and have owned 5 M cars, with a JB3 135i sitting in my driveway now.
I also own a 2007 Shelby GT500 with Griggs Suspension, and Kenne Bell Supercharger. The car is definitely healthy power-wise with 700 whp 650 wtq. I feel fortunate to have BMW refinement day to day, and raw american muscle on the weekends.
Of course these runs are all in good fun, and not meant to hurt anyone's feelings. And filmed in Mexico
I should note that the M3's owner is a nice guy with a sweeeet &ss ride, and like me has all kinds people talking and speculating about his car and how it would match up against this that and the other... The burden of owning a bad&ss ride...
My hats off to him for building questionably the sweetest E9X M3 I've seen to date.
Alright! Detroit vs Munich!!
Race notes: 3rd gear roll. M3 no passenger, GT500 160lbs passenger.
We botched the honk on this run and so the m3 took off and we followed suit:

Even launch on this run:

I'd love to own one, however I'm not sure that blown e9x M3's are making the power that most tuners claim they do. Aside from (drew's) DJLS5 E92 M3 with Gintani blower i haven't seen anything close to 550whp that most tuners claim to be making.
Not to start a **** storm or anything cause i know how sensitive the bimmer crowd can get (my brother owns a JB3 335 with all the bolt-ons and meth inj and we argue all the time)...i'm curious how the ess blown m3 does against the jb3 135 parked in this guys driveway??

[QUOTE=CURI0;2929754]M3 was annihilated, you need to run an E90 with some real power, not paper power [/QUOTE
I see you have a 130 mph trap speed .. what was your et ? ?
What would you call real power ? ?

Yes, 130 trap on the old setup but my ET was poor and I am building my motor and transmission currently. With the SC the DCT would overheat, I have a thread documenting my build process.
To run with your Cobra an M3 will need 600 whp + DCT (something like a Gintani Stage 2+ setup)
Badass GT500, nice runs!

You also are forgetting my SC setup.

Hey guys I'm the one who raced the ESS M3.
Here's the link of the guy's car I raced. Very nicely executed example. He spared no expense...

The only way my 135i could hang even remotely would be to do full turbo back exhaust, intercooler race gas and meth. With 430hp and 450tq the 135i would hang on for a bit then the M would probably slowly pull. The torque being the neutralizer. But to do that would require brake boosting and all.
There's a video from gtboard of a done up 335i running an ESS M, and the M3 does as I described. Slow pull away after HP takes over.

I think it would take a very serious E9X M3 to pull on the current setup regardless of DCT or 6 speed. And, if things get close, I can bolt on headers, swap pulleys switch my tune and add some C16 then, the car traps in the high 140s...
But, again I drive a Bimmer during the week, and swap out for the Shelby on the weekend.

A race between a 335 with upgraded turbos and an ESS SC M3 is going down soon on bimmerboost.

Eh? A supercharged GT500 trapping high 140's without nitrous?

Upgraded turbos should be a nice advantage... Can't wait to hear about that!

The blower I bought came off this car. I bought pretty much everything including the drag wheels

At Atco a week or so later he ran a 147 again with nothing but the Kenne Bell.

So that car isn't running nitrous? Is it on the stock motor?
