M3 Torn In Half - Driver Dies...
West Palm Beach:
A man lost control of his BMW M3 in a curve last night. The car turned clockwise, jumped the median
and struck a tree sideways, splitting the car in half.

some new details on the whole scenario:
a photo he posted a few weeks ago:
Daniel Portela died when he was thrown from his new BMW M3 after losing control, reportedly because of alcohol, and crashing into a tree. Judging from his posts on M3Post, his 2011 Jerez Black M3 was only a few months old and something he was quite proud of, despite it not being his first M3.The 28-year-old killed when he split his BMW M3 in half in a suspected high-speed drunk driving incident posted photos of the car and requests for track recommendations to an M3 forum. Sadly, he never got an answer.
He didn´t get a reply (i think he should have better asked on here ),
but still no reason to turn a road into a racetrack.
what do u think?

DAMMIT! Why in the hell didn't he take it to the track?
If he had just another few months to go, and learn what to do in a safe environment.
HOWEVER, if it is true about the alcohol... No sympathy from this member. I'll just chalk it up as a suicide.

You can never beat a tree at speed. Especially, sideways. Any healthy tree over 5 inches in diameter and you are toast, short of hitting it with a big truck.

Wow, I hate hearing things like this... Only good from something like this is for others to learn from. PLEASE dont drink and drive and if you want to do some speeding do it on a track. The track day is not much more than a speeding ticket. Then your risks are minimal at best... RIP and my prayers go out to his family and friends.
