My Experience with DPE

Heads up members... First time negative review and hopefully the last time. DPE Wheel's employees pissed me off so much that I feel it's my duty to share my experience.

The customer service nightmare started in 2009 when I purchased the Signature Series S-10 for my M6. I purchased the wheel through RPI (Eloy is a class act and in no way involved). DPE's employee Ryan (no longer there) promised delivery on three different occasions and flaked. Two of the occasions he had me waiting at wheel warehouse with my car ready for install. It never occurred to Ryan to call me and let me know that the wheels weren't ready. After the third incident I had enough and wanted my money back. If this was how they were going to treat me from the get go, what would it be like if I needed after service? After numerous apologizes from DPE and reassurances from Eloy I ended up taking the wheels. To DPE's credit, the wheels looked great and just what I wanted. until....

After a couple months the center cap paint started peeling off so, I called DPE. DPE was aware and that they had a new design that wouldn't peel. It cost me $100.00 for a set. REALLY? I paid...

With-in a year the center face (powered coated black) started to fade. DPE's response; that's natural with the sun and chemical used during car washes. I had the option to sent it to them and have them re-powder coated at my expense. REALLY? I decided to live with it. 2009 was a tough year finacially and didn't want to waste good money.

Most recent: All my wheels leak air. I thought it was normal until, one of the rear wheel started leaking heavily. Trips to the gas station went from every 4 months to once a week. Naturally I blamed the tires and had it inspected. The first place told me that it was corrosion due to acid. I took it to another place for a second opinion. I have chromed lips and powered black centers btw. The second place explained in better detail. Before my lips were chromed, acid was used to clean the wheel. Some of the acid wasn't cleaned off properly before the lip was chromed. Slowly, the acid reacted with the metal and cause corrosion under the chrome. Thus creating a gap between the wheel and tire which is causing the leak. Only solution was to replace the lip. I called DPE and Aaron quoted me full retail ($325) to fix their mistake. I asked for a discount since it was their mistake and was quickly told that he didn't have the authority to do it. I called Eloy at RPI to see if he could assist. Like always, Eloy was more than accommodating and explained to me that he didn't deal with them anymore but would call them anyways. Shortly after, I received a email from Eloy that Manu (owner) would look into it and do what was right. To make this short. DPE made another three delivery date, broken! Excuses like, we though we had it in stock, order didn't come in, we ordered the wrong size, etc... I dropped my wheels off to DPE on 7/12/11 and will pick it up today. Let's hope that the job was done right. I have doubts... To sum things up, I'm paying full retail $325 (Manu is MIA and won't be back till next week), car has been sitting on a rack for almost a month (hope the battery works) and feeling that I've been taken for another ride by DPE. Thank you DPE (Manu, Aaron & Shawn) for your over promises and under deliveries.

First and foremost I would like to apologize to 6 speed online staff as a non sponsor (although our dealers sponsor) for posting this.

Sam

You have wheels you bought in 2009 which have a one year warranty which has passed. You are also speaking of an old partner who is not at DPE anymore for reasons like you stated above.

When you called our offices for repairs you gave us threats about "airing your dirty laundry" if we didn't fix this for free. We as a business are known for breaking our backs for our customers however when we have people calling us with threats especially to our employees it doesn't help your cause. The first time around you already had to have your wife tell you that you were being unreasonable with us so your threats and following up with them come as no surprise.

You are a general manager at a lexus dealership, you know all about the warranty situation and I'm sure if someones car comes in with wear and tear after the warranty is up you wouldn't even consider helping someone like we offered to give you a deal and help you.

Yes we had the outer rim in stock but like any company who uses 100 percent USA made parts the hoops don't come chromed....chroming is a process in it self that we dont , like many others, don't do in house.

Its sad that you have been a member on this forum since 08 posted only 35 times and are in the automotive industry and would write something like this.

Look up our history and personally my name...we've never stolen money, never not delivered on wheels nor have never turned out backs on anyone needing help.

Its especially manly of you to have us fix your wheel pick it up and then post this.

DPE has been in business for 8 years, we take this not only seriously but personally and and as unprofessional as this may seem there's nothing worst than someone trying to seem high and mighty when they use threats to get their way.

We are nice people Sam and when you are nice to nice people they will in turn be nice to you.

Internet forums are made to express reviews and share experiences but as we always know there are 2 sides to every story.

we don't care for these types of ethuggery threads even when they involve a non sponsor of the forum...generally we permit a sponsor to defend themselves and now we have a non-sponsor joining and posting on the forum in an effort to defend themselves, which also is not appealing to us...everyone has had their say..please settle this off of 6 speedonline.....thread closed
