looks good, there is something about factory looking installs that always make me smile.

Thanks, I will be installing the reverse camera soon. I have it but need some time to perform the install. I purchased the camera that replaced one of my license plate lights. It keeps the factory look again

im sorry, but why would you remove the factory dvd navi to replace it with dynavin? I thought most people that do this are upgrading from a non-navi (just a radio) car.

For lots of reasons; pre-amp outputs, much better audio quality, much more modern NAV system, latest Bluetooth technology for phone and audio streaming, iPod interface, multiple USB interfaces, and much better screen quality just to name a few.

When I picked up my car in late April I knew there were issues with my factory unit like LCD issues and some other technical glitches. I wanted the ability to add an aftermarket amp down the road without the need to wire in a high/low level convertor and I also wanted iPod, USB, and Bluetooth capibility. Once I did the math the Dynavin made the most sense to me but to each his own.

Congrats!! I am new to the forum and came across your post as I am considering buying the Dynavin head unit. Oddly enough, I have a Ti-Silver / Imola convertible, but mine is SMG. Apparently, we have the same packages. I am in Sarasota, down the road from you. If it wouldn't be too much trouble, might we meet up so that I can see how the head unit performs "live"? I also put the BavSound speaker upgrade in mine. Please let me know. I'm sure we can find a good half-way point to maintain the privacy of our residences.

I wanted to PM this, but forum rules wouldn't allow it because I am new here. Sorry to thread jack.

Cheers,

maw

I just did the same install, except...

(1) I have the full BSW upgrade compliment; and (2) I upgraded the factory amp at the same time. Feedback from my installers is that the Dynavin head has good "linear" sound all the way up the range. You audio competition guys will recognize the importance of linearity in sound. So replacing the factory amp with a good 4-channel (75x4 seemed plenty to me, given the BSW sub) and powering the sub with the mono amp from BSW (a 230W Rockford) made WORLDS of difference. I've very pleased. If you don't want to go BSW, then you can probably end up with more power. But in an E46, that'll mean hacking up the interior to fit larger speakers, which I was unwilling to do. I opted with a completely stock look and feel (with HushMat all around, including the floors), and I'm more than happy. Quieting the interior, then cleaning and boosting the sound = a winning formula. There's a more complete Dynavin thread on E46Fanatics.com. Jeff Bechtel is the distributor I used, and he also answers tons of questions about the Dynavin on that forum. He also answered the phone and my questions every time I called him. And I'm picky, so there were many calls.

Cheers and good luck,

maw
