'12 BMW 335is Coupe ESS programming, wheel spacers and Eibach Suspension
This 335is came to the shop looking to gain a little more hp and to add a slightly wider stance as well. To do this an ESS Tuning ECU "E-Flash", 10 mm and 20 mm H&R spacers were selected to do the job. First on the list was the added power and the ESS Tuning flash does just that to the tune of about 54 added hp for a total of 382hp with stock intercooler (392hp with upgraded intercooler). After the flash it was time to add to the stance, so the H&R spacers were added to the 335is. While driving there are zero rubbing issues to be found, however when backing up and the wheel at full lock there is some rubbing on the inner fender liner.

The 335is came back to us looking to gain a little more grip in the turns and to get the stance just right. To do this a full ProSystem Eibach Suspension Kit that consist of new springs, front struts and rear shocks was installed. Before starting the install all four corners were measured and recorded to find out just how much of a difference the kit made on this BMW. This system is pretty a straight forward kit during the install, however on the front upper strut mount the two "camber pins" are removed during the install to allow for adjustment during the alignment. With the new system installed the wheels were re-installed, however with the 10 mm spacers on the rear the car and no spacers on the front. The reason for this was some small rubbing was discovered on the lip of the rear fenders. The fenders could have been rolled and that would have added the clearance that was needed, however the car is a lease and the customer did not want to modify anything that couldn't be put back to stock. After the car was properly aligned and taken for a test drive to check for any rubbing issue, none were found. In fact after checking the car after the alignment it would most likely fit the 20 mm spacers in the back with out issue, but they were left alone to leave a wider air gap between the tire and fender.
Now for drop numbers:
L/F : Stock-665 mm After-645 mm
R/F : Stock-660 mm After-642 mm
L/R : Stock-636 mm After-645 mm
R/R: Stock-645 mm After-643 mm
Oddly enough the car wasn't level when it came in, and yes the left rear is now higher than when we started, but the thing to notice is with the Eibach system the car is level as it should be with the 2 mm higher on drivers side to compensate for driver weight. This system also gets rid of the "floaty/soft" ride that the customer was trying to get away from, while not being overly aggressive and stiff.
