'02 BMW M5 Recaro Seats install at GMP Performance
For those that track their BMWs, a light, sturdy and supporting race seat is always a good investment. On this '02 M5, the driver needed more support during hard corners and a set of Recaro seats were installed to keep the driver firmly in the seat, no matter how hard the turns.
Parts Installed:
Recaro PROFI XL Race Seat
What we started with
The New Race Seats
The Weights Between The Seats
It's no secret that stock seats can be heavy, bulky and load your car down. They're meant for driver comfort and that lends itself to heavier components. So when you swap over to race seats, usually made of light but strong materials like carbon fiber and fiberglass, you're guaranteed to be freeing up a decent bit of weight.
We wanted to be able to show just how much of a difference there was between the stock seats and these fiberglass Recaros so we weighed both.
Stock comes in at 64.85
And the Recaros at 37.86. Per seat, that's a loss of almost 27 pounds!
Not to mention, they look pretty hot too! Performance, style and extra support when you're zipping around the track. What more could you want?
