BMW F10 M5 on Fire

BMW F10 M5 on Fire
Has anyone had their BMW go on fire? I had one of the first F10 M5s, drove 6 miles on snow and my car went on fire!!
I had bought 13 BMWs, I still own an M3 and an X5, but they assigned me a Jay Hanson that I think his job is to brush people off.... he told me I had to wait 6 months for BMW to finish their investigation and they did not even offer to give me a loaner until their investigation is done!!! Is that what BMW is now?? I thought they were selling luxury cars and would take care of loyal customers.... well at least they would want to know why their cars go on fire!! This was my second M5. Right now I don't feel safe driving the 2 BMWs that I still have. Anyone else noticed the lack of customer service they have?

why don't you feel safe in your other cars? its an isolated incident that your insurance company will pay for and maybe bmw chips in. But as far as your other cars there are thousands of other bmw's on the road and this isn't a known issue.

I did and my insurance took care of me! I thought I was dealing with the top of the line company, that's why it was my 13th car! Wanting me to wait 6 months to do their investigation is their way to let customers just take it to their insurance. Is that what good customer service is? what about the fact it is a flaw in the car, would they care to fix that?

There was no chipping in at all! At one point I talked to them about another M5, but when I saw how careless they were about the whole situation and how bad their customer service was not caring what the cause of the fire was that made me wonder about their safety.
The fire started from the rear brake, the insulation caught on fire. As a matter of fact I did get a Panamera Turbo!
My 5 year old keeps asking if this car will go on fire!!

I never said I wanted a free car! I was answering the comment from MSIZZLE66's he said
“bmw chips in” well “chip in” which means help a little not “throw you a free car ”, although the car was new and would in my expectation beunder a good companies warranty, and a warranty means BMW take care of it.But BMW did not offer a thing not even giving me some deal on a new M5, theonly thing they offered me is either release the car and claim it with yourinsurance or wait 6 month for us to get back to you!!!
Again they did not try to find out what the problem thatcaused the fire was, all they did was push me to release the car to theinsurance and only telling me that the process is going to take 6 months ormore if I don’t. When I release the car, the car became the insurance property, and my insurance took the car. Did BMW finish the investigation? Did they doit faster? Did they find out what caused the fire to try to prevent it in other cars?? My feeling is that BMW is nowjust a mass market manufacturer and have lost what made them a great car. Whata shame but it is reality.

This is definitely not an isolated incident! There are a lot of people out there that had their BMWs just go in flames, you are not alone, just google it! http://bmwproblems.wordpress.com/bmwownersbeware/
http://www.examiner.com/article/bmw-...re-parking-lot , http://jalopnik.com/bmw-sparks-airpo...s-bu-486372168 it looks like if Jay Hanson is assigned to your case then they are telling you that you are on your own! So don't expect anything from BMW!

You mean how Porsche is replacing every single GT3 engine and is paying customers cash for the time they will be without their cars? I'd say that's dramatically better than BMW. Seems like the regulators would love to hear your story - contact the NTSA and see what they have to say. I'd be pretty pissed if I was getting the brush off too.

The more I think about it the more it makes sense to me whyBMW treated me this way, when I looked at the other videos I have when the firejust started,
and this when the fire department started to put it off
. To me it looks like the insulation was burning and BMW knows it has fireproblems. In my opinion BMW wants to avoid a massive recall or a huge classaction lawsuit so they have this “Fire Specialist” Jay Hanson whose job is to getthe burnt BMW customers filing with their insurance so it would not look likeit’s a BMW flaw. Why would they have afire specialist if he does not care what caused the fire? What customer iswilling to pay for a burnt car for 6 months waiting on BMW to find out whatcaused the fire? It is just their way of getting the customer to give up andfile with the insurance, which works as I did that! Then the insurance takesthe car and sells it as pieces, so the problem is gone forever. I am only writingthis for the next person who will be dealing with Jay Hanson in the future. I justfiled a claim with NHTSA, so please do the same.

In spite of having been a longtime BMW fan, nothing would surprise me with BMW today, sad to say. After what BMW Automotive division did to the BMW Motorcycle brand after taking them over a few years ago. Utter JUNK, ranking worse than Harley-Davidson in reliability. Even our CHP is ditching their Bimmers for Harley rides. I'm not kidding, I found that out from a CHP cycle patrolman two weeks ago.
I wish you the best in a solution.
