M6 conv. vs. 911c4s cab
#2
i will try to give a good opinion here, i have an 04 996tt convertible and father recenlty bought an m6 coupe, personally i love the p so much more than the m6 but thats just me, you should drive the m6 convertible and see for youself what you think. i hate the idrive and i do not have any real problems with the SMG in the m6. I will say that the m6 sounds incredible and it drives very very smoothly but then you can just change the adaptive suspension and edc and its a whole nother car completely. The downsides to the m6 is that is DRINKS gas, and i mean drinks, i dont know if your car is 6 speed or automatic but you should take into consideration bmw's drivetrains before you make your choice. As far as functionality over the porsche it has much larger storage areas and the backseats in the m6 are as much of a joke as they are in the porsche, there basically for insurance and unless you have a small girl nobody else will be comfortable in the back seats of the m6. The m6 also does not have awd and that is also something to consider if your going to be driving the car daily or whatever. In the end you cant really go wrong with either one but it comes down to personal preference, the P is more of a raw sports car whereas the m6 is a sports touring vehicle, but do not get confused the m6 has PLENTLY of power and i was suprised the first night and so was the guy i beat in the gallardo.

Lennon: thanks for your reply, and I agree with everything you said, I drove the M6 convt. and it is a more comfortable vehicle, BMW has the best of both worlds when it comes to suspensions. I am a bit concern about the gas mileage, but then again it will be a weekend car. Any concerns about reliability with the M6?, just in case I keep it longer that 3 years!!

so far nothing has gone wrong with the car at all. i hear there is a software upgrade for it but i havent brought the car in yet, the break in period sucked a bit but i didnt really adhere to it anyway, another drawback is that these M motors do tend to burn oil and i always find myself buying a little bit extra just to keep in the garage. the gas mileage in P400 (standard 400 hp mode) sucks and when you hit the M button (depending on how you have it programmed) the gas just basically flows out of the exhaust pipes. We have had it since november and it has 2000miles on it and no problems, great car, alot of fun. go luck in your choice !

But from a C4S Vert, go for the M6 Vert.

that would be an easier decision for me, keep the TT so much more of a raw car than the m6
