What is the send-to-BMW feature on Google Maps?

The send-to-car feature sends business listings found on Google Maps Deutschland to cars enabled with the BMW Assist My Info service. This allows you to quickly find a business online and then instruct your BMW in-car navigation system to take you the business location without needing to re-enter the information in the car.

Here are some frequently asked questions:
  • How do I use the send-to-car feature?

Just search for a German business in Google Maps Deutschland and click on the “Send” link in the orange bar at the top right of the page. Then select the “Car” option and enter your BMW Assist account name.

When you're in the car, go to “BMW Assist” and “Meine Info” in the Communication menu. Select “Meldungen aktualisieren” to receive the message from Google Maps. You can then choose to call the business or set it as a destination for the in-car navigation system.
  • Where does it work?

Our send-to-car feature is currently enabled only for businesses in Germany. You can send the listings to cars enabled with BMW Assist in Germany.
  • Am I charged for this service?

Absolutely not. This feature is automatically included as part of your BMW Assist subscription service. Neither Google nor BMW will charge you for any messages sent.
  • What if I don't want my car to receive messages from Google Maps?

The following steps will instruct BMW Assist to stop accepting messages from Google Maps:

    1. Log in to the BMW Assist website with your BMW account name and password.
    2. Click the “Profil & SMS” menu option.
    3. Click “Mein Profil.”
    4. Click “Meine Daten.”
    5. Set “Meine Info-Versand über Google Maps zulassen?” to “Nein” and click “Senden.“
i wonder if audi's meticulous attention to gaps between the hood and body will have the same effect
