If I was 19, and still in school, wanting to impress, not having to worry about what to do for wheels during winter - hell yeah I'd get the Lotus.
Comfort, room and practicality is all relative.

Keep the M3 without a doubt, I miss mine a lot and can't wait to get another to replace my G35.. Elise is not faster then an M3, especially top end and is much more impractical, M3 is a great car!

I don't know how tall you are but when you're my length (6 ft.+) and you take a chick with you on a date in the Lotus, your right elbow will already know if 'they' are fakies when you hit the first corner.

Since when is a 190hp Lotus faster then the 333HP M3 engine? I'm sure the M3 will beat the lotus on the track with the right driver and proper suspension mods, the only advantage that the Lotus offers is that it weights 9 lbs. Your probably never going to unleash the full potential of the Lotus or M3 unless you plan on going tracking. Why not get a G35? 328Xi 2007, something that looks cool and is pretty fast.

Ive seen alot of people drive them around NYC, its tiny and fits in every space so I think there is some practicality to it. Test drive it and see how you like it , if you want it buy it.
I saw one in white the other day and it looked amazing. I also like that krypton green color.
