BMW markups

Not sure about options but invoice price on an 08 M5 base is $76,270 and the msrp is $82,900. That is almost 9% markup. I got about $4k off a MSRP of $97,720 so there are still deals to be made especially if the car is well-optioned. Don't remember what the invoice prices were on my 997 but I think the markup was notably higher than the M5.

I guess it wouldnt be the first time a salesman has lied to me. I guess when he said 7%, it does not include the 2% he is getting..
Next time i'll bring a lawyer with me..

So...how do you expect them to make a living ?
Put yourself in their place, if you had a business, would you operate just enought to break even or do you want some profit...its ridicoules when i read these threads 'omg i payed 2k over mrsp ' suck it up, if you have the money to afford the car, 2k inst going to break you that they profited out of... its business they need to make money too..nothing wrong with that
just my 2 cents..

no i'm not going to sue them... I was just joking about having a lawyer present so he can read the contracts and translate all the sales lingo to a common peasant like myself. Plus if a lawyer was there they might not lie to my face.
And yes you are right, 2k isnt going to break me, but I would still like to get the best deal possible. They may laugh at me when I walk out the door calling me a cheap bastard, but for the guys paying msrp, I think they are laughing at you as well calling you guys suckers behind your back.
There is nothing wrong wth trying to get the best deal possible. If you like paying over msrp so the salesman can eat then why dont you throw a few grand my way, I can use it for a 4 day golf trip to ireland..
