Bad Experience

Sorry to hear of your misfortune but cars don't spin out drivers do. The Boxster is a very, very forgiving car when it comes to the rear end coming around (even with bald tires). I guess there could be cirumstances where the road is icy or has standing water that could contribute to a mishap but on dry pavement (you don't mention) you would have to be driving the car pretty hard. I certainly wouldn't blame the car. I also have a BMW and if I was driving hard on bald tires I'd rather be in the Boxster than the BMW. Again, I'm sorry for your misfortune and don't mean to come off negatively to you but my experience just leads me to my comments.
Good luck.

I guess Im still surprised the car was balled up twice. I drove our GT3 down to the cords on the rear tires without even realizing it...pushing it very hard at times...and still never got close to balling it up. I would highly recommend a driving/racing school too.

On a cold surface with the tread depth it had and the light weight of the car the back gave out. This car also had NO PSM which might have hellped a little had it had it. Recently I have been searching you tube and google videos for boxster spin outs as well as porsche spin outs and there are quite a few. Inlcuding a 997 that took a turn in a caravan of M3's Vettes, etc and did a complete 360. Also the manager of the car dealership told me when I told him of the first incident that he had spun out is 996 turbo that same weekend. I love Porsche's don't get me wrong but until I can afford a new 997 Carrera S im not getting one anytime soon. Right now im looking at a M3 convertible or a S4 convertible which I beleive are more solid and better perfroming cars then a Boxster but prob not as much much fun.

I don't see how people are spinning these car's out, "spinning" lol... My RWD turbo with tons of power couldnt do a 360 if I tried, coming around a turn back end would step out and snap back, with the lack of LSD.. Ive had the back end out of my GT2 several times and controlled it, driven carrera's and so on, these car's have tons of grip, it takes A LOT to do a 360 in these car's?!?

This confuses me as well. Whenever I buy a car I give it a thorough look over whether it is from a dealer or not .
Maybe it's just me...
Anyway, glad it worked out for you in the end.

I am sure there is more to the story then rear tires with a low tread level... wayyy out alignment, flat tire, (the driver factor?)... It takes a lot for 2 different people to spin one of the best handling cars on the road to the point of damage on the street.
