I have a CS, I love the 1 Series, but that is not the way to get around a track....and that test tells me nothing.

Beyond stupid... they should compare the standard 1 series with the Cayman, and the S Cayman with the 1 series 335...

Like comparing a Z4M with a standard Cayman... beyond stupid... Not even the same size engine...

I watched that episode the other night and couldn't understand the logic of a 300hp twin turbo inline six vs a 245hp 2.7L base cayman. Wouldn't the S have been a better match? Of course not because it would have walked the 135 in every test.

I guess they were comparing equal MSRP..?

Nope, MSRP is lower on the 135i... I'm guessing they want to prop up the 135i...

Definitely an apples/oranges comparison. They talked about the tight sports car feel of the Cayman, and the softer "saloon" feeling of the 135. Both great cars for what they are, but two different purposes. It would be like comparing a Miata vs a Mustang GT.

True because the S would have chewed it up.

it's all marketing if u ask me. i am sure any cayman owners are really not gonna cross shop with entry level bmw.
i love both brands but they are different kinds of car for different type of people.

2.7 vs. 3.5tt . such a fair comparison.

It think it's a fare comparison.
A tv program like this is to tell people something they don't know.
Everybody knows that 135i will beat the cayman on track. Because both cars handle well while 135 has more hp and is obviously better in acceleration.
Everybody knows they aren't drift cars.So few of us care about drifting test
So the track time and dirfting test mean nothing cause we know/don't care the results.

The only thing that 5thGear told us is that 135 was slightly faster than cayman on their slalom test. That's all for this vid.
The 60hp advantage doesn't help 135i in slalom.
however, jason did a tires warm-up before the test.

I was shocked/disapointed that the Cayman lost in the slalom.. But at the track there was no way a 2.7Liter could keep up with a 3.0 Twin Turbo car that has similar curb weight..

They should do a complete lap in Brands Hatch to compare them fairly... also the shoud test the 130i vs. the cayman and the 135i vs the cayman s... It is not all about the price... heck a s2000 will beat the 135i and cost less
