Bro

Nope a local Porsche mech that worked at the local P car dealer and now works at a tuning company. But that 9k RPM motor sounds awesome. Do you have a number for him.

Sorry last thread jack!

Please PM me bro so we can talk about this more.

Three things are needed for a successful DIY forced induction on a 986:
1. Energy
2. Enthusiasm
3. A willingness to scatter some parts along the way.

If you ignore that last one the first two will bite you.

Sorry about that guys, this project went south as the price for fun started getting a little on the funky side.

So I got a new idea (actual an old idea) that I have no choice but to finish:

Yes.

Adapter plate has already been sourced.

Interesting tidbits found a long the way so far....

Boxster 2.7L is only 2 inches shorter then the LS1, which is GOOD. The stock motor is also obviously VERY wide which is good for space for the swap.

Oddly enough the porsche input shaft fits right into the LS1 crank butt

What trans do you plan to run...

and if it's the stock Boxster/Cayman, what do you plan to do about a starter? G50s aren't cheap especially to get them rotating the right direction for mid-engine apps.

Jus' curious.

It's going to use a GM starter in the GM stock location.

There are two schools of thought to this, one of them involves modifying the bell housing ever so slightly in order to use the LS1 starter in the stock LS1 position, and the other involves using a stock GM flexplate which doesn't involve modifying the bell housing.

Currently I'm hoping for the latter to will materialize, however the first one has already been completed on an LT1 based car.

I'll let the people with deep pockets go for that G50 stuff
Todd (tholyoak) has shown time and time again where he's stuffed 3.6s, 3.8s, and X51 3.8s and the trannys have held up just fine. You just cant beat on these things like drag cars.

I see.

I was under the impression there were major starter issues. If you have a sec, you should post imagess of the bellhousings, if you have the motor and trans. I'd like to see what you're talking about.

Good luck and keep us posted with pics!
