Your friends is probably pre 2005 (986). My 06 CS is rock solid. Had one minor issue but warranty dealt with it.

Purchased a slightly used 2007 Boxster S. So far two small issues that should both be covered under warranty. It's going in tomorrow to get those fixed and also change the oil. So far...very happy...

i have an 01 986. i purchased it with 33K and now it has 45K. no problems or issues. i autox it each month and it's running like a champ! i think it was the 98, 99 models that had some issues. not 986's in general. i could be incorrect.

just do the research on the car itself, background, mainten. records., previous owner, etc., and hopefully you'll find a good one!

best wishes!

My Cayman S have 10K on it now, not a single problem, runs perfect. The only annoying problem is the infamous trunk thump, which the dealer fix.

I have had my Cayman S for about 1.5 years and have 32,000 miles on it (yes I drive a lot) and I have never had 1 problem with mine at all. Only changed the oil once (every 20K miles) and couldn't be better.
