Cylinder Sleeve Replacement

Have an '00 S with only 20k miles that cracked #4 cylinder sleeve.

Is this something that can be fixed?

If we do fix it -- should we/can we replace all 6 sleeves?
What with?

Still need to dig into to see how bad it is -- but wanted to
see if there were any pointers to others who
may have done a replacement/rebuild vs
a whole new engine.

thanks,
vttx

Don't waste your time. Call around to all auto dismantlers and see what you can find used. It's probably only going to be $4-5k on your own.

Aside from time -- a used 3.2L with twice the miles would be $5k
plus install.

And I would be playing roulette to see if the same failure occurs.

If the cylinder sleeves could be replaced -- wouldn't I be better off?

This is my 3rd car and I don't need it until early next year when one
of my other leases expire

Contact Jake Raby (http://www.aircooledtechnology.com/) or

LN engineering (http://www.lnengineering.com/), together they have engineered a solution.

Thanks Todd -- this looks very promising.

I got to figure that rebuilding the engine with these sleeves will
actually increase the value of the car as opposed to just
a rebuild or even dropping in a new from Porsche engine.

thanks,
