Some may know I'm on the hunt for a new vehicle. Well, my close friends are aware of this fact as well, and today I was offered a pretty darn low mileage boxster S at a crazy price by a friend. BUT, I do have some concerns, such as daily drivability. For those who do DD their boxsters, what are your likes and dislikes, pros and cons, etc. If you do have a boxster and don't DD it, please share why.

The Boxster is an easy daily driver but then again, I thought my last Viper was not a problem.

Nothing wong with DD'ing a boxster other than it'll eat thru rear tires quicker than a sedan.

I DD'd my 986 for 3 years, put 36,000 miles on it, never had a single problem mechanically and that was in stop and go traffic in LA on the 405 and 10 daily. The only problem I ever ran into was not having enough trunk space go for it, you'll love it.

A Boxster has been my only car since 1999. Not necessarily a DD since I travel a lot for work. But, I drive it in all conditions, including snow. Not many occasions where I need more space for carrying stuff, including grocery runs.

I had a blown engine in my '99, but should not be as much of a concern with an S. No problems with my S so far. Tire wear and mileage is decent if you take it easy. A stereo upgrade/ipod connection is nice.

as you know markus, i use mine as a DD and my autox car. i have only good things to say. i've never had a mechanical issue (x'ing fingers). it's a blast having it in in the summer with the top down, it's not bad on gasoline, and it's got zip to it! i have no problem fitting groceries in the front trunk area. you also have the back trunk area as well. i keep my stuffed full of autox gear, etc. the front works just fine to fit my weekly groceries for todd and myself.

i shoulda let you take mine for a spin while we were on the icecream drive, had i known you were lookin!

Car is a 2001 S with 35,000mi. Every option available except auto and sport suspension, and boxster peeps know, sport susp. Isn't an option with the S suspension. It is tech owned, and just had new brakes put on, fluids changed, etc. It's black on black with 18" 5spoke carrera wheels.

The more I think about this, the more I want it haha. If you guys knew the price, you slap me in the face for even thinking about it.

"every option available" is a lie/almost impossible with any Porsche. It may have many of the popular options, but you could practically double the price of a Boxster if you really loaded it up (leather, carbon, wheels, sport seats, stereo, exhaust, packages, hardtop, paint to sample, other exclusive options, etc.). M030 sport suspension is an S option as well.

Low $20s is market value. $20k or less would be a really great deal. Sounds like a real nice car. I don't think you'd regret it.

I have not driven one before. I am hoping to fix that this weekend though. I have driven in the car in question quite a few times, but I've never had a chance to get behind the wheel.

You should have went for a ride in mine while you were in Seattle. I like it but for my use I would never use it as a DD. It just is not my cup of Tea.
