Porsche Leasing

Hello,

I had a couple of questions for the guys that lease. Given the current state of the economy, many of these cars ave been sitting on lots and dealers have been applying steep discounts (my audi dealer is selling s4's for almost 10k off sitcker). How big of a discount could I expect to get on a cayman/cayman s and how well do they lease? Would it be possible to get one for under 750-800/month with little money down (2500 at most incl. fees)? Any input would greatly be appreciated as I have decided I want a smaller car and have always wanted a p-car.

The sticker on my 08 Cayman S was $68,000, they gave it to me for $61,000 with $5,000 down including fees ,my 36 month lease is $790.00 a month with 10,000 miles a year. This was back in March of 08. You might be able to do better now.

The sticker on my Cayman S was $65,000, discounted $14,000 for a total of $51,000. Leased it for 36 months,10K miles per year, with a total of $4800 at signing to cover all the taxes and fees. Basically it's $1000 cap cost reduction + first payment + acquisition fee + 36 months of taxes. My payment is $594/month. This was on November 2nd 2008. They are blowing out the 2008's!!! I am in Minneapolis Minnesota and they have a few more left at Maplewood Imports, call Tim in Porsche sales at 651-483-2681. He will ship the car anywhere in USA.

Yea...that seems like a great deal from Maplewood. I know Tim and have bought a P-car from him before too. Very nice guy and works hard on your behalf. I highly recommend Tim as well as Maplewood Porsche. They also have another dealership....Carousel Imports.. so they have a nice inventory to choose from.. Good Luck!!

I got a question you guys.

I have no idea how leases work, do you go through the same pattern as if you financed a car ? do you get approved for a certain APR or is it different.

The lease is very simple, basically you have the following:

MSRP of the car ($60,000)
Residual value after let's say 36 months (50%)

Basically you'll be paying $30,000 over 36 months. Tax is only calculated on the $30,000. You can return the car at the end of the lease or buy it. If you buy it you pay the remainder of the tax on the remaining 30,000. You can always negotiate the MSRP and therefore your payment goes down because you reduce the principal balance.

Interest is calculated the same as on the loan, except they call it the money factor. It's usually around 0.00250 for Porsche financial. You multiply that number by 2400 to get the interest rate (0.00250 x 2400 = 6%).

The nice part about leasing is you don't take the depreciation risk on the end value, the car is always under warranty and your payments are usually half of if you bought it.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
