Any miata owners?

Had a 2000 that I truly miss. Sold it when my twins started riding bikes - before handlebar scratches appeared all over it! My next car is probably going to be another one, an 04 with a Flyin' Miata turbo upgrade. 270 to the ground sounds like a hoot - all for less than 20 grand complete.

I have a 997S that I use for a track day car but i'm going to use it as a daily driver and need to get a track car, I was considering either a Miata or a Boxster... I have seen a few Boxsters and Boxster S, is there a big difference? The Miatas are cheap and everyone says they are great at the track....

I looked at both a 987 and 987s outfitted identically. The 987s commanded $10k more and I really didn't notice enough difference to justify it. If you're going secondhand, and if the S is only slightly more, I think it might be worth it to go with an S.

I think 220whp is about the limit when things starting going "boom" (diff, trans, con rods) on a regular basis.

I still have my 90 model, build date 7/89, in great shape with 70k miles. It isn't worth selling, and the insurance is about 100 a year. One of these days I am going to Turbo charge it. An extra 50 HP would make it a blast I'm sure, as it's fun with the stock 1.6 litre. The only problem I have is letting it sit too much. I drove it to get the emissions test done this week, and the clutch feels spongy since the last time I drove it.

I still have my '92 Miata. Bought it new in early '93. With 110k on the clock, it's still my daily driver. Original clutch, brakes, sees redline at least once every day. By far the best car I've ever owned.
And yes, my buddies call it gay...

Love my miata,
Bought it new and it's had lots of track time. Currently it sits waiting for a trip to flying miata for a LS3 turnkey install. 430 Hp should make for the ultimate sleeper

Yea, they are exploding at the track all the time. They restrict the 1.8's in a way that the 1.6's are usually quicker on shorter tracks (the 1.8 is awesome at places like Road America), but the downside is you are always shifting in the 1.6 and they go thru transmissions all the time.
