Creating more leg room???! HELP!
6 Speed,
I am interested in looking for some ways to give myself some more room in my 08 Cayman S. If the seat was lower by like 2-3 inches and went back a little further i would fit PERFECT for the way i like to sit in a car. A little cramped compared to my old 911.....
Anyone have any ideas??? New brackets, new seats, etc etc etc?
BTW, i am 6'3"
Thanks!!!

I believe if you get the 996 gt3 seats installed that they sit a couple inches lower, I mention that because it might be a starting point to figure out a solution, maybe its the lower gt3 seat, or it could be the bracket that might hold it lower, hope you find a solution.

^^^I echo the GT3 seats, even Sparco's, they are lower so it handles that issue, but pulling back, you could save there as well.......not sure, but could work.....see if someone's willing to do a test seat swap with you....

The GT2 seats definitely sit lower. I am on the short side, around 5'6''. I have an '06 CS with regular seats and I am fine. I went to the 2007 Rennsport Reunion, and at the tent display where they had the red GT2 and the Transsyberia(?) Cayenne, there was a black Cayman S with the GT2 seats. I sat in the car, and could barely see over the dash! I asked one of the attendants if there was any way to raise those seats, because I would like to get some eventually, and he responded none that he knew of. I really liked them, but may not be able to use them!

I tired that, they grew back.
Man, thats expensive - prally be cheaper to cut my legs off!
gorgeous seats tho --- hmmmm --- maybe a GT2er will want to sell em cheap?
Exactly. I am going to call my local P Shop and see what they think....would LOVE to test before i buy tho.

2. Custom shop takes out the drivers seat and either cuts the existing seat frame down to desired level or makes a custom frame (Very thin and low and mounts seat back on.
there are some shops that specialize in doing this for tall people or for some one that just needs a little more leg room .Its very dooable Many professional basketball players have done this
Also if you just want more head room I have seen the padding removed from Headliners as well

I had a problem with legroom at first too (6'2"). I found that by raising the seat up a little bit it allowed me to move the seat back further. This is because the front of the engine compartment behind the seat is inclined to the rear. The further up the seat goes, the further back it will go. Also, if you are higher off the floor your legs will flex a bit more. It did the trick for me.
hope that helps

Already thinking of ditching the CS??
I think I saw you at the AWE BBQ last summer. I had the white CS.
