Engine braing and heel toeing
is engine braking and heel toeing basically the same thing?
I executed engine braking once so far out of owning my boxster s in 4 weeks.
sounded awesome! but i dont know how to do it so well. couldnt really do it again. can any one give me some tips?
also, is it a good idea to engine brake? or is it bad for the car?
I havent really attempted to many heel toe turns yet... i tend to drive the car quite causiously still.
Can any one give me some tips on both driving skill methods?

Engine Braking and Heel/Toe-Downshifting technique are, I guess related but not the same thing...Simply put- Brakes are cheaper to replace than Engines/Transmissions/Clutches....So unless you are on the track. Use your Brakes up...Yeah it sounds cool to blip your throttle and all..and you can still do some heel/toe shifting without using severe engine braking....Sorry for the short post...i am sure some will get more detailed..

Yep, different. Engine braking essentially uses the engine to slow the car down in lieu of using your brakes. On the track, it helps to keep your brakes cooler and to stave off brake fade. I use the heel/toe to blip the throttle when I drive on the street because "I'm practicing" for my track days. (And it's kinda cool.....to me.)
