The Dodge on the optional F1s handles very well for its size. Think one step below the last generation CTS-V or close to the M5.

That isn't true. They are Brembos and that has never been a known issue with the car. Brake dust yes but not noise.

I thought I had seen just about every "car xX vs. car xY?" thread combination possible by now, but I must admit... this is a new one.

They are two very different vehicles, going after different markets. Someone looking to buy a Porsche would probably not be looking at Dodges. I know I wasn't.

This kind of thread always brings a smile to my face. So many folks just don't get what Porsche really is, it is not nor will it ever be about muscle cars drag racing down the freeway. I suppose it's ego boosting to brag that your dodge or chevy is faster in a straight line than the porsche, hell there's some hopped up VW GTI's that are faster that way but I don't want to drive those either. Porsche is about the finesse of driving, the crisp handling, amazing cornering and driver feedback, not about brute force in a straight line. Sad to see so many people think what makes a car is it's zero to 60 times and that alone. I guess if you don't know what it's like to have a car so capable of so much more than just that the drag race is all you have to compare to.

So many of you said it sooo well. Not a great comparison.

I've been watching these comparisons for a few years now. Some make sense, many more don't. The one common thread is that everyone is really passionate about his/her ride. I'd love to drive an SRT-8 Challenger! I think it would be a blast to listen to the roar of that big-*** American V-8. It isn't my speed to own one, but for many it is what lights them up when they open the garage door every morning.

Yeah, this comparison doesn't make sense. But what eats me is when guys/gals just get plain ol' nasty about their responses. We've got enough crap going on in this world. If the thread doesn't excite you or you really don't agree, you've got the option to exercise just a wee bit of self control. Nobody is going to get any points for being an a$$hole. Just move on to the next thread.

My $.02

Dave

There are several of use that have gone back and forth from 911 to viper so that's not entirely true. But this one I admit makes me go

...call me an inclusionist...an SRT8 would complement the P-Car nicely; different tools for different jobs; brute force is the way to go sometimes; happily we don't live in a one size fits all world

It's related to a popular thread section called a "Kill Story" and involved virtually every match-up you can imagine in the various Kill Story sections for various makes and models. Fascinating reading and lots to be learned as well as BS'd.

OP asked for a simple comparison based on acceleration capabilities, not a dissertation on the inherent differences in driving them.

What happens on the street across the world 24/7 doesn't always translate to match ups at the local track day.

Thanks, street tires, intake, tune, exhaust. In negative DA the guys with those mods are running similar ETs but 113-114mph trap speeds.

The Porsche rocks but this is an apples to watermelons comparison....
tune is worth so much on the SRT8's did you dial down the TM or remove it?

No need to be elitists here, its a simple question. Maybe he has a buddy that wants to do some highway pulls and is curious of the outcome?

The tune is huge for the SRT-8 for two reasons. The TM is dialed down so that the 1-2 shift at WOT always gets wheelspin and the 2-3 shift snaps your head back. Much different vs. stock. That plus about 20ft lbs from the canned tune meant 3mph and .5 for me at track.

Also once dyno tuned, CAI/catback cars all sit around the 400rwhp range on 91 octane. Bone stock the cars vary from 355-375rwhp depending upon the dyno.

This might be a valid comparison. I have seen a shop that specializes in Porsche and Viper. The owner raced with the two.

These types of topics give me a good laugh. The newbie OP starts a topic like this and the tenure members bust out the "what the Porsche is all about" type of replies. The OP never returns, but sits back, and laughs at how everyone is getting all jumpy...classic
