Would still like to know how people are fixing the mesh grills in place and what colour they are painting the lower lip .
No clue on the mesh grills to be honest but all i know is they better stay in place when im on the highway/track

As for the lip...i am leaving mine "raw" like the oem GT3/Aero lip. To me, that is a cool look. I had it painted on my 997S Aero and that was cool because the car was red - but on black i think the raw lip + vent will look sick.

I was told by Neal of NR auto that the lip needs some kind of protection , as it will fade without it , he advised to paint it matt black .

well, from what i know about the oem peice that comes from Porsche it is unpainted. Now i know they might be different...who knows? matte black would get you the look --- but would still chip/flake obv because its painted. Ask me how i know (see avatar of 997S w painted lower lip!)

I must admit I thought that about the paint chipping bit . I may leave it unpainted , and if it does fade then paint it

Nice work! Every bumper needs prep work before final paint...unless you are ok with the Maaco finish and quality

That's right! AND most of your aftermarket bumpers need the most prep work....

OEM Bumpers are easier...

There is really much involved to do it right...

The words of Doug:

1) Install cover to vehicle
2) Block the cover on the vehicle to fit
3) Remove cover, body work edges, glaze coat lower spots
4) In paint booth spray poly primer
5) Block poly primer
6) In paint booth spray primer
7) Wet sand block primer
8) Mix base coat, check color, custom tint to match
9) In booth spray sealer, spray base coat, spray clear coat
10) Custom cut and fit mesh, install cover
11) Color sand and polish new paint.
12) Detail and done

I heard some people had issues fitting the air vents. Did you run into that as well?

mrwonder

There are are 2 types of GT-3 Bumpers you can order
1.No air ducts inside the bumper
2.Ones with air ducts inside the bumper for added streamlining air

the ones with the air ducts need some small trimming on the air duct itself to fit on .Nothing on the car needs to be trimmed just a very small 1/8 to 1/4 inch I believe .No big deal
I ordered my bumper without the air ducts it was $100.00 less and the GT-3 Cars themselves do not have any air ducts but to each is own on this .

Still waiting for mine to be finished there were 3 ahead of me at the end of last week ..

Adam@Autoscope... My team of prep work monkeys is waiting to tackle this job!!!!!!!!!!!!! we will have big smiles on our faces with every drop of sweat .
