In my experience,

Usually "oil service" is more than just an "oil change"..

an oil change alone would cost less $

yea...but the car only has 20k miles on it

and I have looked at other posts and people have been saying
its only about 200 dollars.

They consider this a minor service

read ur manual. it tells u what checks and filters are changed for the 20k mi service. yes, it's more than an oil change. things like brake, suspension, leaks, coolant are inspected. cabin filter is changed.

So is this what everyone is paying for service (who don't do it on their own)
???

Or is there somewhere in socal that I should be checking out?

$540 is normal for a dealer. I usually pay $150 at an independent shop.

Check the manual then DIY

I do my Boxster services myself and it's really easy, there is plenty of information on how to do most routine services. But for under $100 you can DIY, take the money and buy mods, or if you need some tools to do the service you've more than justified the cost. Just be sure to do all of what the dealer would do.

Call Riverside and see how much they charge... If its less, let Newport know to see if they'll match the price.
If you're handy, do it yourself.

I took my car into Newport Beach Porsche once. I will never go back there again unless they completely change the way they do business and treat their customers.

I don't know about boxster but cost me around mid 200 for oil change at dealer for cayenne s.

Most of it is checking other parts, aka inspection. I'd just do oil change.
