How bad: Front end damage on 987 Boxster

I'm looking for a 06+ Boxster, non-S. I found one at a decent price, 34k CDN with 28k miles. Looks like it had Sports package, the 18" rims, brake package and halogen projectors. I checked the records it was never salvaged but it had 6.5k damage to the front end (!) repaired by previous owner.

When I test drove it I found the alignment going to the right. The car would be going straight but the wheel was obviously tilted to the right. I was told it needed new rear tires. Hmm.

The clutch was also suspicious. Normally I can creep up and catch the engagement point without adding gas in 1st but this one stalled. It was also rock hard, it's probably done?

The tranny was also clunky.

From a cold start it sounded OK. Probably needs new water pump at 60k?

All said it's one of the cheaper Boxsters in the area in the dead of winter, still has warranty and i'm hooked to the rear engine sound.

Thoughts?

don't know price in canada. in the US, if you pay $34k for a boxster, I'm sure you can get a better one.

i would definately check out the alignment issue to see if its just the steering or the frame. i would definately take a look at the oem wheels to see if he curbed them because that could also throw off the alignment. frame damage is really severe and 34k for this car is definately not worth it. i'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the rear tires but i could be wrong

what do you mean by clunky? did you drive the car? if the clutch is slipping then you have a problem. i would definately bring it to a specialist and get it checked. it could be the fluids?

Not worth it. Plenty of non-wrecked cars on the market.

Ditto. Its a buyers market. For that kind of money, there numerous vehicles out there that have been well cared for along with a clean history. Why tempt fate ?
