shifter linkage

just finished installing the short shifter on my boxster, and after i was done my mate told me i should have got the aluminium shifter linkage as well!
thing is i dont feel like going through the whole process again.
is it so important to change it, do you feel any improvements? do the factory ones really break?

yeah but I would imagine the solid linkage would reduce slop and firm up the shift feel a little. Has anyone seen this kind of improvement
