POC Cayman CSX Class

POC Cayman CSX Class
Hi everyone, I thought I would put out a request to Gen I Cayman S owners. As most know, there is a CSR Cayman Spec Racing class in POC, well there is currently a proposed CSX class. This is an attractive potential class for many reasons. You won't need to strip your interior to be competitive because the class has a higher weight minimum. You can probably be real competitive with minimal horsepower mods. You can use double adjustable coilover suspension without being placed in a heavily modded class with POC. The basic idea is a relatively stock powered car with suspension mods, and almost full weight (concessions are made for things like reducing weight for seats, exhaust) but currently minimum weight is proposed at 3250 with driver and fuel (CSR is 2850). You also will not be allowed to run after market aero, which is a good thing because most likely, in CSR, you won't be competitive if you're not running aero. This would be a great class for Cayman owners looking to track their car and would also be a great learning and stepping stone to possible future CSR class participation.
The purpose of this thread is to inform but also to ask you to contact me if you're interested. I'm not asking for any type of commitment. This class is currently only a proposal and the more people interested, the more likely it will be received positively by the POC. If this is something you would like more information about, please PM me. I plan to send a letter to the POC letting them know the type of feedback we are getting for the class and it may help us push for it to be open for 2011. Thanks everyone!
Jason

It appears we have approval for the CSX class. 2011 regulations will be posted later today.
I would post the link here, but it appears that is not allowed.
Cheers,

been registered since 2007 D and you just posted your 2nd post! that's a record.
Guys, if you're in So Cal and you drive a gen I Cayman S, this is going to be a really fun class to drive in. Minimal mods to be competitive and you can keep your interior for those guys that daily drive the car. If you haven't been out to any POC events in the past, you can expect very well organized events that are affordable, and some of the best free instruction you will find anywhere.

No worries. I don't take such things personally. Just let me know when you are ready to come over to the dark side.

Final 2011 CaymanSpec regulations attached (can also be found here: http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-spec-...tml#post515961 )
There are a few refinements from the version submitted in September. The changes are mostly to improve clarity and remove grey areas, but there are also a few changes resulting from additional experience and development.
The major change from 2010 is the addition of the CSX class (this was in the September submission). This change should reduce the class fragmentation of Caymans for PDS/TT that resulted, mainly, from the use of clubsport-type double adjustable dampers and a couple of other typical street-type changes. Our hope is that this will create a larger street car class and create an easier path to CSR.
Also, we made a provision in the CaymanSpec rules to allow for the Gen 2 Interseries cars to run with the POC (if somebody buys one). The Intereries spec weight, etc should provide reasonable equivalency.
Changes are highlighted in red (see attachment in linked thread).
Also, here is a bit of video from a recent POC club race. Camera car is CaymanSpec (CSR) #241: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uO_UhxlMJxE

Not sure, but Laurie said there are 5 cars among LS, LI, LP. I assumed you had converted them all to CSX

I'm working on it el presidente...
Really wish I could head out there Sunday, but I'm going to drop by Hergie later today and I'll chat with Eric to make sure he and Kevin introduce themselves and push CSX. This year will be a big year for the Caymans!!

4 Caymans on track this past weekend at big willow for the first time trial of the year. 2 in CSR, 2 in CSX. it's never too late to sign up with POC guys, there's an event in 2 weekends at the street of willow. you are guaranteed to get great instruction and lots of track duty.
