Yes, you buy the lowering springs, then "bump" the ride height by using OE compensating plates. These plates are added to top of your springs (between spring and perch) to provide more spacing. I added 6mm (f) and 9mm (r) to give me a ride height that's lower than the OE sport (PASM) springs, but slightly higher than H&R/Eibach/etc. setup. So, let's say the aftermarket spring drop is 30mm. You add 6mm comp plates to the setup, your drop would be around 24mm.
Here is a list of the sizes and part numbers:
FRONT 3mm = 996 343 511 00
FRONT 6.5 mm = 996 343 511 01
REAR 3mm = 986 333 504 02
REAR 6mm = 986 333 504 03
You can find them from dealer or pelican parts. They are for 9x6, but I fitted them on my 987S without issues.
Alternatively, you can find someone selling the factory sport springs, lowers 10mm (IIRC).

Thanks for the excellent info! Do you happen to have the part numbers for factory sport springs for 987 too?

i did a little research... both the PASM springs and the SPYDER springs are $310 for a full set... not bad at all... i think the SPYDER springs are even a bit lower then the PASM... i think .8" lower than my stock non-PASM.

Here is the measurement of the ride height (measured from fender to center hub) after 100mi with Eibachs & comp plates installed:
Front (in.): 13-7/8 (just shy of 2 fingers gap) from 15"
Rear (in.): 14-1/2" (just shy of 3 fingers gap) from 15-1/2"
Porsche compensation plates: 9mm (F) and 9.5mm (R)
The springs have settled in a bit (7k miles later), and car is definitely lower now. I was at just shy of 1 finger gap front and just shy of 2 finger gaps in back - dropped another 1/3"?. I'm out of town, but will measure it again and post the info here next wk.

hmm... my local parts guy said the 'strut' part numbers on both the PSAM and SPYDER are different than the stock Boxster S. he said the top 'receptor' that holds the spring at the top is the same on all... his guess was that either set of springs would work on my car... but he couldn't give me a definitive "yes"... so i am a little on the fence at this point... bit of a gamble.
