So it’s a Cayman S, sport crono, with an aero kit, and a sport exhaust that gives +10hp…
(and somebody stole the radio and AC)
The problem is that it is not as much of an upgrade as the Spyder is from the Boxter.
And am I the only one that thinks that green is a horrible color to introduce the car?

eh. and lighter doors and lighter wheels. nylon door straps instead of handles/pulls etc. they cut where they could. i'd say on a short track it should outperform a c2s. on a long track should be about even or minuscule difference. definitely nothing to write home about but seams reasonably priced for the aero bits/wheels.

Yes I know. But my point is that the Spyder is its own unique entity, and as it turns out, quite by accident, I basically already have this car.

(yes I know… AC, door handles, comfortable seats, blah blah….)

No, you aren't. I was going to mention that as well, but thought it would be a very minority opinion. Perhaps not.

20mm lower than an S plus mechanical rear diff. This is a serious track car that will probably outperform 911s's. betcha the 330hp is understated.

.. the more i study it... the more it strikes me that Porsche didn't give it the same design attention the Spyder got. i still think it is a great looker... but i wouldn't pay a premium for it.

I miss my Cayman S (tip) on the handling and confidence department. The power is not enough 295hp and the Tip also disappoints me big time. Otherwise it's a very pretty car with very good handling. I always want a MR car back. I thought about the spyder cause it looks pretty unique and the new PDK available for it. Porsche introduced the Cayman R. I think it's quite not worth it. I think the Spyder is more unique and it actually weights less. But in real world driving, would the Spyder get beat by a Cayman R? I plan to get PDK this time.

I'm also a bit underwhelmed.

Aesthetically, it's sort of like the '08 sport edition: different color, aero kit, dark wheels/mirrors/etc. Whereas the Spyder was more bespoke compared to the Boxster with its CGT double humped rear. I was hoping for something more like this.

this car would have been a winner if they would have shoehorned the 3.6L in it. The spyder has an extra little hp boost over the S, this should have a performance advantage over the Cayman S as well.

i guess everyone is in the same boat. count me in as well. i hope it is underestimated to make the "R" badge worth something. a bit of disappointment imo.

What are you talking about?

As has been discussed, depending on how you option a Cayman S, you can actually get the R for less money!
