Vinyl cover for Cayman front hood ?

My front hood on my 07 Cayman is getting pretty chipped up looking and I was contemplatiing just doing a vinyl wrap instead of painting it, what do you guys think ?
My car is black with a Gt-3 front bumper and a Techart Rear wing ,car also has some minor silver trim and lambo green calipers so I was thinking about several different looks but cannot decide ,plus I have not seen these on my car to make a educated decision
1.Matte Black
2.CF Black look
3.White
4.Silver
5.Gloss black
6.lambo green

wish i could see these on the car first ,any ideas welcome and also any vender reccomended for the vinyl? Thanks !!

I too have the problem w/ chips on a dark hood... As for vinyl wraps, I personally wouldn't do it (except as a clear bra after fresh paint)...

and I read online once... "real carbon fiber = nice... fake carbon fiber = rice"... so although I like the CF look, it is really easy to tell the riced up versions (just go to one of your local cars and coffee events and eyeball the young bucks ricers)..

I don't think 3M makes a diNoc CF film wide enough to cover the hood in 1 piece. You may want to check.

I love the look of matte black but haven't seen a matte black Cayman yet. Do you have any pics? You're talking about doing the whole car, right?

No, Just the front Hood

I guess I could get It Painted if the Vinyl does not come in a 1 piece ,I am not going to do it if it looks crappy and 2 pieces would deff look bad IMO , but I was thinking of something other then the stock Gloss black to give it a Custom Look .Matte Black might be cool and not an overkill ? But ya know Silver or white would be pretty cool looking no ? I like my cars to be different but not stupid looking so I am going to make sure on this decision .anyone have any pictures of P Cars with a different colored Front Hood ? Please Post them ,Thanks

Oh in that case I would definitely go matte black then. It's different but not over the top. I think silver or white would get old, plus it would be a big distraction from the car's lines.

I have the one piece wrap for the hood ... it has saved me from chips or other damage although, over time it has become rather dull ... I am planning to have the car waxed by the dealer soon and I hope it will restore some of the original look when I purchased the car.

I'll let you know how the wax turns out.

Only problem with vinyl wrap is that you can only hand wash it - no automatic carwash whatsoever. Also that you cannot wax it - it will look shinny and patchy. AmorAll Natural Finish is about all you can use to protect it and preserve the uniform matte finish. The vinyl material will lasts about 4 or 5 years depending on how much UV and/or contaminant it is exposed to.

I vinyl wrapped my Boxster's hardtop in matte black and it looks really sharp on a grey car - it no longer has that "I'm wearing a big helmet" look - but it is a PITA to maintain in the winter.

I found a company that makes a 3M CF sheet 60x48 the front hood is roughly 46x53 so it should work .109.00 dollars on E-bay

The CF sheet seems like the winner. At that price if it looks off you can just remove it w/o any regrets. Have you ordered it yet?
