Boxster = 987 Convertible
Cayman = 987 Coupe
Both essentially the same thing with minor differences (bumpers, intakes cayman w/ minor hp bump and a few others).

no

With that logic, the 997 section would require a different section for the coupe, cab, targa, c4s, GTS, and any other body variant.

However, I do feel that the 986 and 987 should be separate. There are not enough shared parts to justify them being combined.

Jeremy Clarkson calls it the Coxster. Maybe we should elect for a rename of this portion of the forum.

Interestingly, I've had two Cayman owners insist the Boxster & Cayman are totally and completely different (i.e., refuses to believe Cayman a hardtop version of the Boxster). I argue with them otherwise. Then, I offer them a ride in the Boxster... and first thing they say (to their surprised).... "this Boxster is just like my Cayman".
The problem, I speculate, is that most Cayman owners just getting into Porsche (meaning, have not been following the Boxster evolution)... see Cayman as a new car first introduced in 2005, and the Boxster is just completely different car (think 986).

Okay, now I'm confused...

Why are the Porsche Boxster and Boxter in the same thread?

Mann...I love these threads...especially the ones that excite the owners of different cars.

Gentlemen, Jeremy Clarkson described the Boxster S as a brilliant car, but could not dream of pulling up next to a 911 without feeling as though he "Had not yet arrived." Yet a lot of folks (including myself) have bought these cars and drive them daily with $hit-eating grins on their faces.

Me, I think it is kinda cool being part of a larger community of folks that drive a great product (mid-engine cars P-cars), but don't feel as though they "need to arrive." If I wanted that, I'd buy another Turbo and move back to the "coveted" 99xTT forum above.

My $02.
