widest tire for fronts

The tire shop put on the wrong size tire on my front wheels. They were supposed to put 235/35/19 but ended up putting on 255/35/19. Should I spend the effort and time to go back and have them put on the correct tires? Or will the car handle fine with these wider fronts? I am running 275/35/19 in the rear

Thanks
David

Depends on the wheel width and offset. 255 may work, but tires may rub wheel liner when you are at or near full lock. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case with your setup. Someone I know went with wider tires (not sure the size) on a 986 and tires wore through the wheel liner and into the radiator hose which caused a pin hole leak.

If I were you, I would go back to the tire shop and get them to put the right ones in very soon - assuming you didn't tell them you want 255's in front. Most wheels sized/offset for 987's run 235 fronts and 265 rears, a smaller percent of us run 245 & 275's. Some time people don't pay attention and put the wrong thing on.

IIRC, if the % difference between the front tire and the rear tire does not remain within a certain range then the ABS computer might get confused.

There is a thread over planet-9 that is discussing the issue right now:

BTW: Love the P43 HRE's, have a set of them in matte black sitting in the garage.

To the OP: Did you get some black center caps for the HRE wheels?

Sadly I am on the same boat as you, can't figure out why HRE doesn't provide a matching colored center cap . Best bet might be to try an aftermarket Porsche replica center cap in black. Been looking for one from some of the Porsche replica wheel vendors.
