Hi. I like to get opinions from people in today's auto industry (ex. sales person, auto broker) on whether a Cayman 2007 pkg plus, automatic, exterior black, interior tan, auto climate control, 33k miles for $30k is a good deal or not? I called two dealers with similar car, and both replied that price is not negotiable "period". Kelly Blue Book shows a value a little bit higher than dealer's price. Based on cars.com, it seems to be a good price. Should I just accept and negotiate down if I find problems after taking the car to a different mechanic to do a check? I can get better deal by telling the sales person that I'm paying cash? Is it realistic to really insist for $28k out the door? Thanks.

 

When i was looking for my 911, the tiptronics were always priced much lower than manuel. The tips had lower miles, more options AND lower price.

Not sure if Caymans are the same.

 

Even though its an automatic 30K plus taxes and License is a good deal .you cannot go wrong with that IMO with only 33K miles .
It was probally 52K to 53K new so a 22 to 23K off a new one is a great deal IMO .

 

Thanks Dc88 and porschepet for your feedback. Is it business standard to be able to ask for 5% off the dealer's asking price if I pay cash? Just trying to find ways to make the price lower. Like to get it around $28k out the door, but it doesn't look like that's going to be possible. Will probably have to pay full asking price

 

For refrence I picked up a CPO 2007 Cayman S (30k mi) w/ Manual, Sport Chrono, Sport seats, HIDs, Interior trim options, etc from a dealer for ~35k last June.

Some additional thoughts, CPO the car if you can. The cost to the dealer is about 2k and they often pass it along w/ minimal mark up. It provides 2 things - priamrilly the warranty coverage + roadside, and indirectly peace of mind. Dealers must certify to PCNA that the car has never been in an accident, or recieved paintowrk (other than bumpers) or had significant mechanical issues. Theres also a comprehensive inspection and the requirement to roften eplace many of the wear items (ie tires, etc) w/ factory spec parts (ie N-rated tires, the Bridgestone 505a). If its a P-car dealer and they state they can not offer the car as CPO be very cautious as to why not.
