400whp without forced induction?

Has anyone been able to break 400whp without using forced induction on either a cayman s or boxster s 987.2?

3.8L DFI conversion. Not cheap - engine alone is 10 - 15k, + labor. There is a race shop (BGB Motorsport) in Orlando looking for a guinea pig. I would love to go that route myself, someday,.... but when I weigh the cost and gain... I wonder if that conversion money could be better spent towards another car later on... like the R8.

The r8 is hands down my favorite car. Also, if its 10-15k for just the motor maybe a Low pressure system from tcp racing maybe be the best option for quick power gains. Its probably the best bang for your buck.

Yeah unfortunately, they haven't starting selling the kits for the 987.2's yet. ALso, I would have to remove my stock oem sport exhaust which sounds great.

I live in DC, any recommendations on the best shop to go to near the metro area? Maybe one of the vendors could chime in!

Do you have a build thread going? If not keep me posted, the boxster is almost the perfect car as far as I am concerned, it just lacks a bit in the power department...there should be a 988 turbo but there wont be so....I await your findings anxiously.

Alright, so my research has led me to believe that there is just not much out there for the 987.2 boxsters/caymans yet.

Has anyone managed to find some worth while performance modifications for the second gen cars?

There's no way to get to that much HP without forced induction. Maybe you can get close with a whole hell of a lot of NA parts but not worth it at all when you could buy a faster 911 for less money and it's a stock car,.

I know, I love the mid engine's balance and handling though. What kind of gains have the 987.2's seen with headers, mids, catback, tune and maybe a new intake?

Porsche can't get 400 RWHP out of Gt3s. I doubt there is anything in the after market world to ever get there without forced induction. I have close to 20k in my Raby engine and it's no where close to 400 to the wheels. I am considering adding a turbo to it, but at 12.75 to 1 compression it would be a challenge.

I say 3.8L would have to be the most reliable method to get as close as possible. And isn't the 4.0 in the gt3 rs 493hp? Also heard rumblings of the 2012 gt3 cup having absurd hp numbers.
