New Tires for 987 S

I am sure that there will be many opinions here - and I'd like to hear all of them!

I am about ready to replace my PS2's. I am considering the following and would welcome comments and suggestions:

1. just get new PilotSport 2's ($1364 at TR)
2. Yokohama AB08 ($1054 at TR)
3. Conti ExtremeContact DW ($844 at TR)
4. Conti ExtremeContact DWS ($786 at TR)

I live in a relatively mild climate (although we have a wet season!)
It is not my daily driver (although I do put on about 8-10K miles per year)
I want at least DECENT wear resistance
Really like stickiness (for the occasional Autocross)
Like my 18's for ride quality and don't want to move up to 19's

Thoughts? Are there others that I am missing?

Thanks everyone.

18" Cont. DWS

Last fall I put on 18" Cont. DWS as I needed to be able to get around in the snow. They work great for that but if you like hard cornering at all you will find them too soft. I planned to put the Michelins back on but I like the softer quieter ride of these and I feel more confident in wet conditions so I haven't switched back and may not since we are thinking of a road trip. After 4,000 miles they still look new but then I guess they should so a little more time will tell. I got mine from Discount Tire Direct as TR was out of stock at the time and DTD gave me free shipping (it may have been a short term promotional thing). I have noticed that when I am on concrete that has rain grooves cut in that run parallel to the road the tires want to wiggle and follow the grooves, something I didn't notice with my stock tires. You don't notice it much and the car is still easy to drive so it's not really a problem. If I find a good deal on some wheels with TPS I may pick them up so I can change back and forth easily. I don't know if TPS can be disabled if I put on some older wheels.

Hankook Ventus EVO V12 is one option that has gotten many positive reviews. I just picked up a set in 19" for $760 and I get $60MIR = $700. I have these tires on my modded A4 and they have been great so far. I was on the fence about Nitto NT05s and the new Michelin Super Sports... but the Super Sports are $1300.

Car & Driver (FWIW) did a review comparing many economical performance tires (to the benchmark - MPS).

I just put a set of Bridgestone RE-11's on and like them very much. I was running the Potenza RE050A and find the RE-11's to be quieter and handle much better (stiffer sidewall).

Itried to get the new Super Sports. the Goodyear F1 Assy., Conti DW and no one had the rear sizes I needed. They were either back ordered or not available. I went with the Hankook V12.

More money than Kumho or Hankook but a marvelous performance tire wet or dry.
