Question: Cayman in the snow?
My father has driven mostly Mercedes as his daily, currently a clk55 amg. I live in ohio near the snow belt and we get hit with alot of snow at times. We have always had top of the line winter tires on our vehicles. Could a cayman get through snow and be used as a DD with aggressive snow tires?

YES!!!
I live in Toronto and I drove my Cayman through the winter. I purchased 19" Bridgstone LM 60 from the local dealer and I had no problems in slush or snow. I drove through two nasty snow storms and the car was fine.
The mid engine set up allows the car to handle very well on snow covered roads. I don't recall the backend ever getting out of control.

Drove mine all winter long last year in Montreal. There was only 1 day I couldn't get out of my driveway (steep) and would've succeeded with a decent swing but decided against it. Mid-engine balance makes it a fun car in the snow. Get good winter tires and good mats and you're set. Beware of other cars though.

It is not the same, but I drove a first generation Mazda RX-7 through 4 wisconsin winters including one true blizzard year with 4 snow tires. Get narrower cross section tires and dedicated snow tires and you'll be fine. The only problem i encountered was if there was too much snow and car belly-planed without adequate weight on wheels.

Yep. In the local mountains we get some pretty good snowstorms and while tire traction is good with the right set of tires on plowed roads, low ground clearance can be a problem. Driving through drifts the car transforms into snowboard pretty quickly.
