I believe the R has less sound insulation than the S as well. I believe that's correct, though I don't find the R overly loud, and I prefer the engine sound over the S.

The R is a bit more raw than the S. It keeps reminding you that you are driving a real sports car. It's louder, the ride is a bit more harsh and it has fewer creature comforts. It's sort of like comparing a GT3 to a standard Carrera.

Certainly a capable daily driver, even with the sport bucket seats. I actually find the sport buckets the most comfortable of all the Porsche seats. Once you get in them that is.
