My new Ruf 3400K!

Agreed, love the steering wheel too. The only thing one has to get used to is hitting the buttons, instead of the whole wheel, when needing to honk the horn. It happened the other day when a guy tried to change lanes into me, took a few frightening seconds to find the buttons

Thumper
looks like the GT-3 Front bumper from NR auto acessories .
I would Powdercoat the wheels Matte BLACK ,change the steering wheel (kinda Camry-ish) and remove the sunshade ban ASAP.. the checkered seats are kinda funky looking so I would have those redone as well
the Rest looks Great !! I am not trying to be a downer Just my Opinion ... Great car though

So my point is "to each his own" and "if you cant say something nice.....". I mean why put the guy's car down??? For me, personalization shows imagination and ensures I don't see my car on every corner. For me, an all black car would be boring.

I wasn't saying you were stupid whatsoever, sorry if you took it that way. It's just these are all authentic Ruf parts that you're saying should be taken off. This is what they do and how they do it. In fact I responded to the post because I didn't think you were ******* me, I just figured you didn't now how Ruf went about building their vin cars because if you did you wouldn't suggest removing everything that makes them a Ruf.

Saw your post over at P9 and was drooling. I'm curious as to how you came across this car and would love to hear some details about the actual purchasing process you went through.
Are there others like it?

Caution: Long Post
Thanks. I had actually been looking for another Ruf car for sometime. I had a Ruf RTurbo 550 before this and knew I loved how Ruf did things. Anyway, Michael at "Ruf Auto US" in Michigan and I corresponded several times over the last year or so. Initially I spoke with him about modding another 911 for me. This car wasn't even in contention. I had seen it as an available car but paid little attention because it wasn't a 911 plus was immediately turned off initially by the pictures on their web page. On my monitor it showed the car to be bright orange. I didn't want an orange car, Ruf included, so I paid little attention.
Anyway time passed on as I went in and out of several cars in a VERY short period of time in what appeared to me to be my, "car mid life crisis." I didn't know what I wanted, am sure I appeared to be an idiot. Included in this crisis was a brand new 997 TTS, a Panamera TT (for a very short time), and finally a new Boxster Spyder. It was the Spyder that got my attention. I had never even been in a Boxster or Cayman. I absolutely loved the way this car handled compared to the 911's I have had. The only problem was it was quite underpowered and was only a two seater. I have two kids and a two seater causes wars So I sold it. Also, like the 997TTS, it was a PDK car and I really came realize I wanted another 6-speed, part of unraveling the mid life crisis At this point I just walked away and figured I was out of the sports car world for a while.
Then I started looking at the new CTT. I had really liked the '08 I had before. I loved the new one. It wasn't a sports car but it's the next best thing and solved all sorts of issues. I could live with that. The problem is you can't get one! It's nearly impossible especially if you want a decent discount. And I pretty much refuse to buy a first year Porsche. As you can see they have had some issues as expected, enough to pull them down in the current ratings. So, stuck again... But I still couldn't get how that Spyder handled out of my head. I told myself if that thing had 100 more hp it would be perfect. So the search continued...
Sometime after this I did have the pleasure to ride in a Ruf RT12 in Dallas compliments of Jonathan at RAC. It was a Tip but oh my talk about fast! I had to clean my pants out. It rekindled the need for a Ruf. Simply they build mid range torque that can't be quantified on paper.
At this point I called Michael back in Mi. and that's when he suggested the 3400K. I said, "I don't want an orange car." He said, "It's not orange, it's Guards!" Then I read in the text, which I had missed previously, the car was actually "Guards". So I had him send more pictures that were color accurate. This is when I really started studying it. Was this the car I was envisioning? I was intrigued but cautious. I had never even heard of a Ruf 3400K. Internet research didn't really reveal a lot either. And who was "Ruf Auto US"? What happened to "Ruf Dallas"??? I had spoken to Michael several times at this point but never really explored what the deal was. I had dealt with the Dallas guys several times though. Up to this point I found both companies to be forthright, knowledgeable, and very accommodating.
Further research indicated there was a pretty rough "changing of the guard" between Dallas and Michigan. However through my due diligence I came to realize all was well and that these guys at "Ruf" MI were great people and the real thing too. I did continue to do my due diligence on the 3400K though, and I mean thorough due diligence... In fact if I was Michael I might have told me to take a hike. The issue was the car had 23K miles on it, at that point no warranty, was quite expensive, and was unknown. There are only two or three over here. Plus I hadn't driven it and I probably wouldn't get a chance to, MI is a long ways a way and time was of the essence. There was also some rumor I had heard that is wasn't even a true Ruf Vin car which was quickly quelled.
So I started my quest which included a conversation with "Dr. Joe" and his experience with his beautiful 3400K, thank you Doctor, then onto a lovely and unexpected phone conversation with Estonia Ruf which lasted for over an hour. This conversation, along with further conversations with Michael, cinched the deal. Estonia provided authenticity papers, a dyno sheet, a full Ruf warranty on their end (Michael had already offered it to me stateside), and peace of mind guaranteeing I would love the car. (I was concerned it wouldn't be quick enough due to my modded 911 past, especially after just coming out of the TTS.) By the way, She is a very smart and passionate lady, can't wait to see what they come up with in the next couple of years. She hinted at some very cool things
This was a great car buying experience. I really put everyone involved through the ringer. Not once in the MANY correspondences, and/or phone conversations did I ever feel I was putting anyone out. Everything I requested, including lots of documentation, was met quickly and happily. Every question I had was answered and a good trust was built. I really re-learned something about customer service too. I don't think I would have had the patience to deal with me... And to polish it off, due to time constraints with me heading out of town, they brought the car down in their own private trailer right to my door.
Since the sale I've had several questions and requests all of which have been handled quickly and friendly. In today's world it's nice to see companies still bending over backwards and fiercely proud of their products.
How did I get by the "two seater' problem? I finally decided Daddy needed to do what Daddy needed to do They get to ride one at a time which is working out just fine, truly better "Daddy Daughter" and "Daddy Son" time this way. I still want a CTT but I'm going to wait a while and let the dust settle. My lovely bride, is fine with this too. Frankly she's elated I finally found what I wanted. I'm sure I drove her crazy too.
Sorry for the long post, probably way more than you asked for or wanted to hear. I think I'm finally over my crisis though
More driving impressions, etc... to follow. Please feel free to ask any questions.
