Advice regarding 2007-2008 Cayman S

Looking at a 2007-2008 Cayman S. ...what are the major issues I'll need to look out for? Anything pre-emptive I should do repair-wise?

Thanks,
Bryan

Purchased my 08 Cayman S on 12/6/2011. It was CPO certified and had just 17,821 miles driven. Dealer did the 20,000 mile service so I am in good shape for the next 10,000 miles when an oil change is required. Have driven 4,000 since December with absolutely no problems. Very happy with my purchase and look forward to many more miles of trouble free driving. Good luck with your search.

Only if you plan to autocross or do DE's would I recommend any premptive fixes.

If a/x-ing, consider an underdrive pulley (available through RSS/BBI/Tarett) so alleviate some of the stress places on the power steering lines.

If DE-ing, then a Motorsports AOS, X51 Sump and proper brake pads/fluids... at a minimum.

Good luck! I love these cars.

Thanks - not a big autocross guy, but DEs will be in my future. Appreciate the input!

I'd buy a second gen cayman, especially if you are going to use it for autocross or the track. It has a much better oiling system. By the time you upgrade a first gen to a safe level you could probably get the newer model and some cash left over.
I own a '07S and an AOS system installed is not cheap.

Agreed with the above post if you can find a Gen II for less than the 50K asking price I'm seeing around. Contemplated it myself last year but couldn't justify the 15K premium. That's the price of a 'built' 3.4L EFI motor putting down more power with greater reliability.

What if it's an '07 with AOS already?
