NAVI installed -- Kenwood DNX9990HD

Got a new toy on my '05 Boxster S...and loving it!

What was done:
* Replaced stock radio with the new DNX9990 -- great system
* Stereo bezel and climate control face painted black -- looks awesome
* Rear Center Console painted Speed Yellow
* High resolution backup camera
* JL amp

Work was done by Sound Innovations. They did a superb and impressive job! I couldn't be happier!

Here's link to some pictures....

Looks great. I'm thinking of picking up that deck as well for one of my other cars. Did you replace your speakers too or just the deck/amp?

How is the head unit? Any slowness in switching between NAV and other functions?

I'm getting this done too. I'm getting quotes this week. What was the total cost, if you don't mind me asking?

Who painted the front console black? Did you take it apart to paint or did someone else? I'm looking to get mine painted and would be interested in details.

Thanks Shermanator! I kept the stock BOSE speakers for the time being. The sound quality has improved significantly. But if I had replaced the speakers, the sound would have been even better. Since I'm not much of an audio guy, this is more then good enough for me. My purpose was for the NAVI, blutooth hands free calling, and the backup camera so my needs were met. I would much rather hear the sound of the Boxster engine!

I'm afraid I don't know which dash kit it was. I know there're two makers out there. One is rectangular and the other has a slight curve on both top and bottom of the opening (mine). I like the curve opening one much better. It looks better and better fit.

Thanks Superfly! No, I didn't replace the stock BOSE speakers, just the deck and amp. The sound quality has improved over the stock stereo/amp. I'm very happy with the result.

Love the head unit! Very fast going from screen to screen. I'm still not familiar with all the functions and capability of the unit yet. So far, the only thing that's slow are the boot up time (16 sec) and album arts. It takes a bit for the arts to come up when playing ipod/iphone, but no delays with the songs. They play right away as you switch from song to song or album to album.

Total cost was $3,400. This includes painting the stereo bezel and climate control face plate black (lots of work from what I understand as they need to remove each of the climate control buttons), painted the rear center console body color, and installed a high resolution backup camera.

Sound Innovations painted the front console black. They had to take all the buttons out before painting it. It was a lot of work from what I understand but they did a superb job.

I just purchased an '05 and I'm really wanting to upgrade my head unit. I'm in the same situation where I would need the front console either painted or replaced with a black color.
