Question Guess the weird noise

I have a 2007 Cayman with 87,000 kilometres on it. All maintenance up to date. Car's in great shape.

However.... at the top of the front passenger strut tower (right under the front fender) I get a groaning, creaking noise as I turn the steering back and forth.

1) Only happens after driving for a while, not when car is first started up.

2) Only happens on the one side (passenger/front)

3) Pushing up and down on the car compressing the suspension doesn't make any noise. Only when turning the steering wheel back and forth.

4) It's at the very top of the car right underneath the fender or hood area.

Any guesses before I take the car in for service?

No prizes.

bensonJ is infamous around these parts
I'll second that: strut bearing!
