Great info but I’m thinking that most everyone on this forum that is buying one “custom” ordered it. (therefore probably know as much about options as the dealers...lol)

I’ll bet if you take a poll, you’ll find 80-90% of everyone here special ordered it.

But good info nonetheless....

Eduardo,

My apologies, I didn't mean to insult the information you are and will offer. What I meant was that you said...

In general, Americans rarely custom order a Porsche. Most just buy what dealers have ordered, which are often 'safe' choices that appeals to an 'average' buyer.
I was making the point that people in THIS forum right now have all custom ordered their 981's and definitely not "most Americans".

So, my apologies, that was not meant to insult your obvious vast knowledge and experience.

Great info Eduardo. Question: why would Guards Red be in "Feasibility Check" when its currently available? My Guards is currently off the coast of Newfoundland, motoring towards Brunswick and then Houston. I know Mark would want to know too...

Thanks for the great write-up, looking forward to more.

Already two people in other forums have confirmed to me that their dealers told them the current standard 'White' offering is not the old 'Carrara'. Could it be that 'Guards Red' is no meant to be around much longer? However, the configurator does list that color with its proper 'Guards Red' label!
The White offered now is not Carrara White. The current White is usually referred to as "pure white" and is the same they have offered on Cayenne for some time.

My 981 is in Carrara White, that was the standard color up until production week 22 (mid June). After that, they are just offering White.

Considering the few 981's built before that week, it looks like Carrara White 981's will be a collectors item (Just kidding, but I do love the color on my car! )

I've also heard that Carrara White will no longer be available... went the same way as Speed Yellow. Oh well... (personally don't like Racing Yellow as much)

Since I've been in the body shop business for 30 years, I'm fully aware of the effort it takes to do a color change CORRECTLY.

I myself almost paid the extra 5K to choose the color I wanted but knowing how impatient I am, I went with the next best thing.

Partial Leather w/ 2 tone pkg vs Full leather two tone

Eduardo,

Thanks for all the great info. In ordering my 981 including a visit to Sascha in Beverly Hills, I learned a lot about the two tone options.

On the 991 there is only one two tone option, order the Leather interior with the two tone option. This gives you an interior like the 991 pictures you posted.

However on the 981, there are two different two tone interiors. One is very similar to the 991. Order a Leather interior and a Two-Tone choice of two colors, Agate Grey/ Pebble Grey or Agate Grey/ Amber Orange. This includes deviating stitching on the dash and doors. This is the first picture shown below.

The second option which I believe is unique to the 981 is to order the Partial leather seats with leather package and a Two-tone Leather Package in one of three colors, Agate Grey/ Pebble Grey, Agate Grey/ Amber Orange or Agate Grey/ Lime Gold. This gives a very different look which is shown in the second picture below. The dash and the majority of the door panels are not covered in leather and there is no deviating stitching.

This shows how what seems like a very subtle difference in the order can have dramatically different results.

Before any of you make a decision that such technology is totally superfluous on a sport car, please do a little research & keep an open mind. Even those of you that mostly use your Porsches at the race track have to travel long distances to get there & back. It also has a safety function called a Precrash system, which warns the driver and/or provides brake support if there is a high risk of a collision. This feature is called 'Porsche Active Safe' (PAS) in Porsche's version of ACC.

Hey Saludos,
Do you think the price is justified for such a gizmo?
